Marathon Plans

No matter what level you’re at, the marathon remains one of the world’s toughest tests of endurance. Nigel Pietsch Coaching programs aim to:

  • Improve your run technique to make you the most efficient and robust runner possible.
  • Progressively build your fitness so that you peak on race day working on all aspects of training; endurance, strength, fatigue resistance, efficiency, speed.
  • Continually challenge you physically and psychologically to push new boundaries to mentally and physically prepare you for race day.
  • Get you to the start line feeling ready to race and mentally ready to deal with the challenges of the day.
  • Keep you injury-free, healthy and motivated.
  • Make sure you have a clear understanding of the plan you will follow on race day, having trialled it extensively in training and racing
  • Build your personal belief system to ensure you will achieve your goals
  • Plans are developed face-to-face or correspondence-based, following a similar process to that outlined in the triathlon plan

Technique coaching (swimming, running and cycling) including video analysis

Nigel Pietsch Coaching provides technique and video analysis for specific sports, based on a needs-basis, including:

  • Swim school in a small group-based technique program held throughout the year. The program will give you all the information you need to become an effortless swimmer.
  • One-on-one swim coaching sessions.
  • Bike set-up and technique sessions can be performed individually or as a part of your coaching program.
  • Running technique: There’s running and then there’s running efficiently. The goal of running is to move from point A to point B as quickly as possible using the least amount of energy. One-on-one coaching is vital in learning how to modify your technique to become a smooth efficient runner.
  • Bike handling sessions.
  • Open water swimming skills.

Personalised fitness programs tailored to your sport or fitness needs

Whether it be football, tennis, golf or to simply lose some weight and gain a fitness edge, Nigel Pietsch Coaching can devise a program to meet your needs.

The key to these sessions is at an initial meeting to identify where you are starting from, where you want to be and what we need to work on to bridge the gap between the two targeting the specific demands of the event.

  • Programs are adapted to suit your needs and resources.
  • Programs can include cardiovascular fitness, strength and conditioning, flexibility, weight loss, nutrition advice, sport specific programs – depending on a comprehensive review of event demands.
  • The concept on implementing significant healthy behaviour change is a subject Nigel has studied extensively and has worked with many large corporations to improve the health of their employees and often forms a significant part of the program for new-comers.
